Join us for the next fly tying session at the Parsippany Library, 449 Halsey Rd, Parsippany, on Monday evening, March 25 from 6:45 to 8:45. Scott Fisher will be tying flies inspired by Catskill fly tyer Art Flick author of “Streamside Guide to Naturals and their Imitations” and “Master Fly Tying Guide”
Attendees should bring their tools, plus the following threads: 8/0 or 12/0 Olive, 8/0 or 12/0 Red or Brown, 8/0 or 12/0 Tan. Please bring any of the other materials that you have on hand. We will attempt the following 3 flies.
Flicks Hendrickson Nymph
Hook: #12 nymph hook
Thread: 8/0 or 12/0 Olive
Tail: Mallard flank dyed wood duck
Body: Grey fox belly, beaver fur and claret seal fur mixed (I have a blend we can also use)
Ribbing: Olive silk or floss
Wing case: Natural duck quill
Legs: Partridge
*NOTE: These materials have been adjusted due to rarity or legality and are as close to the original recipe as possible
Flicks Red Quill (Catskill dry)
Hook: #12-14 standard dry
Thread : 12/0 Red or brown
Tail: Med. dun spade hackle fibers
Body: Stripped brown cock hackle stem, pre-soaked
Wing: Wood duck (or WD mallard flank)
Hackle: Medium dun
Flicks Hendrickson (female)
Hook: #12 standard dry
Thread: Tan
Tail: Med. dun spade hackle fibers
Body: Pinkish red fox fur (or Hendrickson pink dubbing)
Wing: Wood duck (or WD mallard flank)
Hackle: Medium dun
