Our next HBTU outing of the season will be to the Monocacy Creek near Bethlehem, PA on Saturday, September 7, 2019. We will meet at 9 a.m. in the parking area at the end of Monocacy Creek Road, which is in Illick’s Mill Park. Head west on Route 22 in Bethlehem, then take Center Street south to Illick’s Mill Road. Make a right and then another right on Monocacy Creek Road and take it to the end. You can use 100 Illick’s Mill Road, Bethlehem PA in your GPS (40.641455, -75.378949).

The water temperatures in this limestone spring creek are good for trout much of the year. The water flow currently is very good. Our parking spot will be next to an old mill dam and access should be relatively easy. Above the dam is the lower end of the Trophy Trout section which is not stocked and has a healthy population of stream bread browns. Below the dam is stocked heavily, so you’ll have your pick of areas to fish. BWOs, sulphurs, caddis, sowbugs, scuds and terrestrials are recommended.

We’ll fish till about noon and some of us will then have a beer and sandwich at Fegley’s Brew Works, a great pub which is only a few minutes from the parking spot.
