The Banquet

The banquet is coming up soon.  On March 7th at 6pm, we will be hosting our biggest fundraising event of the year at The Exchange in Rockaway.  The address is 160 East Main Street.

We will have great stuff for auction.

You can bid on trips to fish for wild trout, fish the salt, fish the East Branch, fish the Willowemoc and shoot clay pigeons.

You can bid to have a personal fly tying lesson with famous tyer and author Matt Grobert.

We will be auctioning off a handmade bamboo fly rod, sets of flies, wines, art and more.

Mark this one down on your calendar, and then RSVP to let us know you are coming as we need to give the Exchange an approximate headcount.  

I'll be there, checkbook in hand.

Simms items came in...

We got another order of shwag from Simms in, including hats and tacos.  It looks great.  Bring your money to the February meeting!

January meeting on the way and its the Fly Tying Meeting!

The January meeting will be here before you know it, this Thursday the 8th in fact.  Its the fly tying meeting.  Come watch some of the chapters best tyers (and some guests that rock too).  This is your opportunity to have someone help you with that one fly you just cant seem to master.

Hit the South Branch on Sunday

I finally had enough time to put a few hours together and to head out on the South Branch this past Sunday.  As I only had about 3 hours, I figured Ken Lockwood would be a good place to try.

I nymphed it hard with HEs, PTs and egg patterns.  I managed one lousy fish-a wild rainbow.  Id like to tell you it jumped and ran and glowed blue and all that, but no.  Just a regular fish.  

Not worth the gas, but every once in a while, you just need to get out and try your luck.

Anyway, thank for reading these posts in 2014.  I look forward to catching up with everyone in 2015.  So behave yourself and see you in the new year!
